Make sure your kids get off on the right foot to keep them Active for Life! This program teaches children the basic movement skills that will allow them to make daily activity a lifelong habit. Skills such as throwing, running, jumping, kicking and catching will be taught through fun and dynamic games. These basic techniques will help set the foundation for whatever sports or active pursuits your children will explore as they get older.
If you are looking for ways to help your child increase their overall activity levels in a fun, social and safe atmosphere, then this program is the answer. Our team of experts will teach your child the skills needed to break the bad habits of our increasingly sedentary lifestyles. Participants will learn the proper techniques for strength and conditioning in a comfortable training environment to help lose weight, increase metabolism and improve overall health and fitness in a non–competitive, encouraging atmosphere. A combination of sports, relays, and obstacle courses utilizing various types of specialized training equipment, such as hurdles and ladders will be implemented in order to significantly improve fitness levels and coordination, as well as build confidence. Parents are invited to attend the nutritional information sessions to help them make the correct choices for their entire family’s healthy eating needs.
This one hour and fifteen minute class will refresh your soul and revitalize your body. Elizabeth has been teaching for over 15 years and her style incorporates dynamic movement with alignment. Instruction will include basic standing poses, hip/leg stretches, shoulder girdle/arm stretches, simple backbends and some inversions. Enjoy a class that balances your energy and invigorates the body, mind and spirit. Prior Yoga experience is not required.
Through a series of matwork exercises participants will be guided through the 5 basic principles of STOTT Pilates, a contemporary approach based on the original method by the late Joseph Pilates. Focus will be on: fluidity, precision and control of movement while increasing core strength, improving postural patterns and balancing strength with flexibility.

This program will whip you into shape. Your fitness and nutrition needs will be met through this comprehensive program implemented by our expert team. What are your goals? We will help you achieve them with measurable outcomes. Includes: baseline measurements and functional movement screening ; group training sessions 3 x per week for 3 months; nutritional services includes: 2 group presentations (45–60 minutes); weekly nutrition tracking & advice; and a PISE Nutrition booklet.
This program is designed specifically to help boost your metabolism. Through a combination of strength training and aerobic conditioning protocols, you will have your engine revving higher than ever before. By increasing metabolism, your body will be forced to burn more calories 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while at the same time improving your strength, aerobic conditioning and body composition. Get ready to sweat because this program is not for the faint of heart! Please note: participants may be subject to an evaluation by a PISE Strength and Conditioning Coach to ensure their base level of fitness will be adequate to safely participate in this program.
Are you looking for the ultimate challenge? PISE’s toughest program utilizes many of the same training protocols we use to prepare firefighters, police officers and other athletes for fitness competitions and departmental qualification tests. Strength training and aerobic conditioning protocols are combined in a way to overload each of your energy systems, pushing your body and mind to their limit each and every class. Please note: participants may be subject to an evaluation by a PISE Strength and Conditioning Coach to ensure their base level of fitness will be adequate for this program.

This multi–faceted program provides athletes with a progressive resistance training program designed to help improve the general strength and mobility for cyclists, runners and triathletes. Based on the latest scientific research and coaching practices, this program will help develop a solid foundation of fitness for your upcoming season.
Are you ready to shake up your workout regime? Kickboxing will work your entire body and has the added benefit of being a great stress reliever. You will learn how to punch and kick in a safe and friendly environment. Sessions will include some practical self defense moves including important ground self defense. All fitness levels are welcome.
Regardless of your age, gender or level of fitness the Kettlebell is a unique and highly versatile tool for all round physical development. Kettlebell lifting has a long history in Russia and can increase whole body strength and power, develop aerobic fitness and improve your body composition. Start your day with this fun and challenging course! No prior experience with Kettlebells is required.
This energetic class will rev you up. Join our enthusiastic instructor for a class that is sure to have you ramping up your RPMs. All experience levels welcome. Any new participants to PISE Spin, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the first class for orientation.
We want to empower women to become athletes at any stage of their life. This women– only fitness class is targeted to all fitness levels, whether you have taken our courses before, or are new to the weight room. If you are looking for a way to blast yourself into shape or to help elevate your body to that next level of fitness, this class will lead you through a progressive cardio and weight routine tailored to your experience level. Includes: pre and post girth measurements, functional movement and muscular endurance assessments and a cardiovascular fitness test.

This fun and exciting program will utilize Run Jump Throw teaching techniques to capitalize on the window of accelerated adaptation for children’s development of the fundamental ABC’s of athleticism as identified by the FUNdamental Stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development Model: Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. These skills will be taught in a well-structured, fun environment utilizing a wide range of different sports, games and drills to help develop physical literacy and enhance participation and familiarization with different athletic and recreation activities, enhancing your child’s quality of life and health. Expert instruction in a range of sports may include soccer, basketball, badminton, lacrosse, Ultimate and volleyball among others.
Progressive Tennis Ages 6 – 10 Progressive Tennis is an exciting and innovative new tennis program that offers adjusted equipment sizes in racquets, balls and court dimensions to create a fun age/size appropriate learning environment. We set up numerous mini tennis courts on our outstanding PISE gymnasium floor. Children quickly learn to make proper contact with the ball and progress rapidly to a rally stage.
F.A.S.T. Ages 8 – 15 Put yourself a step ahead of the competition for the start of the upcoming season. This program will focus on teaching the correct movement patterns required for cutting, accelerating, decelerating, and change of direction. Drills will utilize ladders, hurdles, jukes and plyo boxes to create a fun and challenging workout environment while also improving balance, coordination, proprioception and stability in the areas needed to help avoid lower limb injuries.
H.O.T. Ages 8 – 15 Enhance your on–ice performance with off–ice strength and conditioning! This program is designed to help keep your body strong, functional, and injury free throughout the grueling season. Protocols are designed to work with your on–ice training to maximize athletic potential, without the worries of overtraining. Our Strength and Conditioning Coaches will teach the proper technique to enhance your strength, power, speed and agility to ensure that you have every tool available to help in your pursuit of on–ice excellence.
V.A.S.T. Ages 8 – 15 Vastly improve your vertical jump! Studies show that supplementing sport specific skill development with a properly designed strength and conditioning program can drastically improve game day performance, while at the same time reduce the risk for injury. This course will focus on correct technique for jumping, change of direction, acceleration and top speed, and includes vertical jump test measurements to track improvements. No matter your sport, this program will help take your game–day performance to the next level!
T2T Performance Volle yball (Grades 9 – 10) The T2T Performance Volleyball programs are based on the LTAD Training to Train stage. At this stage, athletes are ready to consolidate their basic sport-specific skills and tactics. These athletes may play to win and do their best, but they still need to focus more time on skill training and physical development over competition. This program will encourage fair-play, leadership, skill development, and team play. The basic skills; passing, setting, blocking, serving, and attacking will be taught and integrated into game-like drills and activities. In each session the new or refined skills will be put to the challenge in small-sided or six-on-six game play. The level of skill instruction will be geared to create a challenging, but successful environment for all athletes. T-Shirt included with registration.
L2C Performance Volle yball (Grades 11 – 12) The L2C Performance Volleyball program is based on the LTAD Learning to Compete (Training to Compete) stage. The program is geared to senior high school athletes looking for an opportunity to take themselves to the next level on their school, club, or elite team. Athletes can look forward to advance skill acquisition, position specific training, individual and team defense/offense, and volleyball specific physical training. Each session may include skills, drills, game play, mental/physical training. This course is recommended for athletes looking for an elite experience. T-Shirt included with registration.

Champions Academy Basketball Teams Teams will be registered and play in the Victoria District Basketball League (a.k.a Night League). Eli Pasquale (Director/Head Coach), will set and establish the practices for these teams. The team program is focused on developing the skills, physical performance levels, nutritional management and overall athletic lifestyle of each participant. We will incorporate all the basketball skills with strength and conditioning and much more. Register as an individual. Limited to ten players per team. The Season operates from October 13 to March 5: One game per week. Approximately 20 games played. Teams will practice on Sundays at PISE for 1½ hours.
Camosun Chargers Basketball Fundamentals Academy The Chargers Basketball Fundamentals Academy will give young male and female athletes the opportunity to develop their basketball skills so they become better players with their school and Night League teams. This advanced program will build confidence, increase physical abilities and emphasize the improvement of your basketball skills. Correct skill development and sound game knowledge in a positive environment will provide young athletes with a strong foundation to build their basketball skills and to fulfill their dreams of becoming successful players. All participants receive: 16.5 hours instruction, academy reversible jersey and shorts, drill manual, Camosun Chargers season pass and Children’s Fitness HST Credit Receipt (if the child’s age qualifies).

Multi–Sport Day(s) Camp Ages 10 – 14 This exciting camp will introduce participants to expert training in a variety of familiar and new sports. By improving skills and physical literacy in a variety of different sports, your child will have a step up later in their athletic career when they decide which sport to specialize in. Time will be spent with a Strength and Conditioning Coach developing power, agility, speed and quickness, as well as with skill specific coaches from a variety of sports including soccer, rugby, basketball, Ultimate, volleyball and more. Each day will include games and scrimmages to practice your young athlete’s new and improved abilities.
Lacrosse Christmas Camp Ages 7–14 An early Christmas gift to yourself! Spend the beginning of the Christmas break working on your skills as a lacrosse player. This three day program will consist of the following: Day 1 - passing and catching fundamentals, shooting technique and strategy, loose balls, individual skills. Day 2 - review fundamentals, add more in depth look at shooting, 2 on 1’s & 3 on 2’s, 1 on 1 offence and defence, pick and rolls, 2 man game. Day 3 - full floor drills, review 2 man game and pick and rolls, break outs, in game positioning, scrimmage. Camps will be sponsored by Reebok and will have daily prizes and camper of the day prize giveaways!!

BCRPA – Fitness Theory Prep Course & Exam 1 Looking to challenge the BCRPA Fitness Theory Exam? This refresher course will review principles of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and exercise science to help aid in your successful completion of the exam. This prep course is recommended for individuals with previous knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology through other course work or post secondary education. If you have no formal training in these principles, you should complete the 30-hour Fitness Theory Course for full instruction in these areas and successful completion of the BCRPA exam..
1The textbook will be available for purchase at PISE's Fitness Front Desk prior to the course starting. This course is designed to certify you as a Personal Trainer. This course covers more detailed instruction in health screening and fitness assessment, posture, program design, risk management, and business planning to prepare you to work with individuals on a more on–going, personalized basis. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fitness Theory and Weight Training, as well as 20 hours of on–floor experience in a supervised weight room setting.

NCCP – Introduction to Competition Part A (Formerly Level 1) Applicable to coaches working with athletes at a competitive level, this course covers ethical coaching, planning a practice, and nutritional advice. Once completed, coaches will receive recognition with the NCCP. Minimum age for participation is 15. Coaching Workbook, Resource Guide and CABC Membership are included.
NCCP – Introduction to Competition Part B (Formerly Level 2) A continuation of Introduction to Competition Part A, this course expands on program design, teaching and learning, and mental preparation. Once completed, coaches will receive recognition with the NCCP. Minimum age for participation is 15. Workbook and resources are included. Prerequisite: NCCP Introduction to Competition Part A.
Join media riders Mira Laurence from /A\ Vancouver Island and Robin Farrell from Kool FM in this unique Tour de Rock fundraiser. Experience 4 different workouts, with 4 different instructors. Workouts will include; cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, coordination, core conditioning and teamwork. If this sounds like a lot it is nothing compared to what Mira and Robin will experience in their 1,000km journey of Vancouver Island. Help raise money for a great cause and get a great workout! Participants are encouraged to collect pledges to maximize monies raised. Registration deadline September 10, 2010. An informational letter and pledge form will be emailed to all participants.
