PISE’s goal for programming is to help clients develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle by utilizing progressive, registration based programs. Although PISE is Victoria’s home for high performance training, community programming is central to fulfilling PISE’s mission statement. Community programs are social, friendly and low pressure. Your Strength and Conditioning Coach will encourage you to exercise at your level while providing the highest level of technical knowledge to ensure movements are executed safely and effectively.

Kids/Camps
The ABCs of Physical Literacy

Physical Literacy is developing fundamental movement skills and condence that allow individuals to enjoy a variety of sports and physical activities. The ABCs (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed) are the building blocks of movement, which develop Physical Literacy. By teaching these skills and movement patterns early, kids have a better chance of engaging in many sports and staying active for life. PISE is excited to be offering this in the community! ACTIVE START (AGES 3 – 4)
Make sure your kids get off on the right foot to keep them Active for Life! This program teaches children the basic movement skills that will allow them to make daily activity a lifelong habit. Skills such as throwing, running, jumping, kicking, wheeling and catching will be taught using kid friendly language,through play and exploration. These basic techniques will help set the foundation for whatever sports or active pursuit your children will explore as they get older.

Youth
BOYS B.L.A.S.T.T. (AGES 12 – 15)
These age-appropriate and experience based resistance training sessions will teach young boys the correct lifting techniques in all major functional movement areas required to enhance performance, strengthen bones/muscles, improve balance, and help prevent injuries. Each session will focus on the core concepts needed to develop competence and confidence in a fitness centre environment, while imparting crucial knowledge and safe practices essential to healthy development.
DRIVE – JUNIOR ROWING STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING (AGES 14 – 22)
In order to maximize your performance in the shell, it’s important to supplement your time on the water with dryland training. This program is created specifically to improve your rowing performance with training protocols designed to increase mobility, decrease the risk of acute and chronic injury, and improve strength and power. Participants will undergo a Functional Movement Screen to monitor improvements and help guide training protocols. Led by former National Team Rower (2006–2010) and current PISE Strength and Conditioning Coach Lindsay Forget, up and coming rowers will learn the weight room fundamentals and rowing specific conditioning protocols to take their performance to the next level!
ENERGY SYSTEMS TRAINING (AGES 14 – 19)
Take your teens’ athletic performance to the next level…
Previously reserved for professional athletes at the highest levels of international competition, Energy Systems Training (EST) is designed to further develop key energy systems, crucial for the production and delivery of fuel to working muscles. This program is for teens who are seriously pursuing their sport and want to increase their performance through advanced training protocols. Exercise physiologists at the Canadian Sport Institute at PISE will track increases in aerobic, anaerobic and phosphocreatine energy systems through various testing methods. In addition, sessions will also include Contrast Hydro Therapy as part of the recovery process – a service not available to the public at PISE, until now.

PISE has assembled a team of dynamic Strength and Conditioning(S&C) Coaches with a diverse range of educational and professional backgrounds. Our S&C team includes Certified Athletic Therapists and Kinesiology graduates who have years of experience working with clients who have acute and chronic injuries. Our Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS®) are experts in sport specific training from both an educational and personal lifestyle background. Their experience and personal dedication to a healthy lifestyle serves as the foundation for the programming that makes PISE’s community programs unique. Whether your goal is to improve your general health and wellness, or geared towards sport specific improvement and injury prevention, our S&C experts will show you why PISE is the ultimate centre for all of your training needs.
Start working towards your goals today. PISE has a number of Personal Conditioning options available to help you achieve your goals. Your Strength and Conditioning Coach will work alongside you to reach your goals with innovative, dynamic and cutting edge programming. Every program is unique and customized to meet your goals, suit your schedule. Every Personal Conditioning Package includes a PISE gym membership and a Functional Movement Screen assessment as part of your first session to help identify potential asymmetries, imbalances and mobility concerns.
Payment Plans: PISE is now able to offer automatic payment plans with a credit card on file. Payment plans are set for the duration of the purchased program (4, 8 or 12 weeks) and can be processed either bi-weekly or monthly. Please phone the front desk (250-220-2510) for more information.

Nutrition Services
Effective nutrition is an often overlooked component to maximize gains made during training. Testing
PISE is proud to offer an extended range of services through our partners at the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific. Testing and Assessment is a critical element in goal setting and tracking changes over time. PISE’s Exercise Physiology Consultant can answer questions, assess your needs, set testing schedules and suggest the best testing protocols to meet your individual needs. Your test results will assist the PISE team in creating an individualized program to ensure an integrated, safe and successful training experience.
Health & Wellness Testing
Body Composition (Height, weight, skin folds and girth measurements)
Tracking body composition measurements over time is an effective way to determine if weight gain or loss is fat or fat free mass (muscle).
Initial Session $50

Comprehensive Metabolic Rate Combination Test $250
This combination test features the resting metabolic rate test and the sub maximal caloric needs assessment. It will provide comprehensive information about how your body uses energy across the spectrum of no activity to high activity. One nutrition consultation is included in the test.
GFA – General Fitness Assessment $150
A general fitness assessment includes measurements of body composition, muscular strength, endurance and power, as well as tests for flexibility and aerobic fitness. Assessment in these areas will give you benchmarks to help reach your goals. The test battery will be selected based on your specific needs.
Training & Performance Testing
VO2 Max $150
This test measures the rate that your muscles can utilize oxygen to produce aerobic energy and is the most accurate way to measure aerobic fitness. This test is beneficial to athletes involved in aerobic sports such as running, cycling, triathlon and rowing so they can assess and target their specific training zones.
Lactate Testing $150
An incremental lactate test determines at which intensity lactate accumulates in your muscles. This test is beneficial to athletes in aerobic sports.
VO2 MAX Plus Lactate Combination Test $185
Receive both VO2 Max and the Lactate Test results!
Sweat Sodium Analysis $135
Sweat Sodium Analysis determines your sweat rate as well as the sodium content of that sweat. Knowing your sweat rate, allows you to tailor your hydration strategy to meet your individual needs. This knowledge will help optimize training quality, recovery and performance as well as help you avoid hyponatremia and cramping.
Functional Fitness Testing $150
Test basic endurance, strength and mobility and receive a functional mobility summary and general recommendations. For people 60+ years.
*A detailed written copy of the results is provided from data gathered during the test. In addition to this information, an explanation for the results is provided, but the explanation does not include an individual training program or prescription.
Mental Training Services

Mental skills training can help athletes build a solid foundation for better concentration, confidence, performances and perspectives in sport and life. By enhancing awareness around thinking habits and incorporating mental strategies into daily training, athletes learn to build stronger levels of mental toughness increasing their chances of excelling on and off the field of play.
Develop your mental foundation through discussions, education and sport specific applications. Skill areas such as goal setting and evaluations, self-talk practices, focusing techniques, self-regulation strategies, emotions, injury, teambuilding, pre-competition planning and post-competition debriefing are available.
Christie Gialloreto, PISE’s Mental Training Consultant, has a passion to help athletes of all ages reach their potential through confidential one on one personal counselling as well as team or group sessions. She has enjoyed working with athletes in over 40 sports ranging from recreational to international levels of competition.
In addition to completing a PISE waiver, clients under the age of 18 will be required to submit a Treatment of Minors Consent form signed by a parent (s) or guardian. Informed Consent forms will be required for all clients to sign and will be verbally reviewed in session.

Christie Gialloreto, PISE’s Mental Training Consultant, holds a Master’s of Science in Counselling Psychology, is a Certified Canadian Counselor and a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Christie has worked in a variety of roles at elite levels of competition including the Canada Winter and Summer Games and the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Games.. Corporate Advantage Accounts are setup in one of two ways:
- Organizations purchase a credit at PISE which then pays for employee’s transactions within PISE. You submit us a roster of eligible employees and the services that your organization will cover. Services include general drop-ins, program registrations, nutrition services, registrations for children’s day-camps, etc. Incentives are offered to your organization with a credit purchase beginning at $1000.
- A group of employees can purchase a bundle of discounted annual memberships. Discounts begin at 10% off the listed “General Public” rate and include a parking pass. A minimum of 5 employees is required to receive the discounted membership rate.

Coaching Courses
FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS (FMS)
Based upon the fundamental stages of the Canadian Sport for Life model of Long-Term Athlete Development, this workshop explores core NCCP themes such as fair play, safety, responsibility, and communication with an innovative skill development process. Participants are given the opportunity to practice strategies to improve fundamental movement skills such as throwing, hopping, skipping, jumping, kicking, striking, balancing, catching, and agility.

NCCP – INTRODUCTION TO COMPETITION PART A (FORMERLY LEVEL 1):
Applicable to coaches working with athletes at a competitive level, this course covers ethical coaching, planning a practice, and nutritional advice. Once completed, coaches will receive recognition with the NCCP. Minimum age for participation is 15. Coaching Workbook, Resource Guide and CABC Membership are included.

PROGRAM & FACILITY GUIDELINES
- PISE is a world class facility and we expect our members and program clients to treat it with respect.
- Early Reg. (Early Registration) fee is for those who register prior to 1 week before program start.
- PISE reserves the right to cancel any program. If a cancellation occurs, PISE will give as much notice as possible. Patrons will receive a full refund within 30 days.
- No refunds or credits will be issued for dates of classes which have passed.
- Memberships are non–refundable or transferable.
- No holds on memberships except with the submission of a medical note. Credits are good for one year from date issued.
- PISE will be pleased to issue a refund or credit on training and sport specific programs before the 2nd session (less program materials fees). Programs running for 4 or less sessions, including PISE Sport Star day camps, will require 72 hours notice to receive a refund or credit.
- Refunds/credits requested for medical reasons must be submitted with a medical note and will be issued for classes remaining. In this case an administration fee of $10 will be applied.
